The Lyric Challenge #6

I am LOVING OneRepublic’s new album, it’s such a fresh new sound for them. So today’s picture is from their song Preacher. I downloaded a new Font for it too, which can be found here.

I love these lyrics because they speak so much truth. I think a lot of us are so caught up in materialism and earning money, which to a certain extent is ok, we need money to survive, but the problem comes when we need to need more. There are so many things that we take for granted when we’re chasing down that big ol’ pay cheque. Like the fact that even though it’s still cold here, the trees are already wearing their Spring florals. The tubes may be packed in the morning on the way to work and in the evening on the way home, but it’s still light outside. And for most of us, when we come home, we’re coming home to four walls and a roof, and at least one blanket to keep us warm, and food. That is so much more than a very large number of people can say.
I think that things of the greatest worth are unable to be valued in monetary terms. I know you’re probably rolling your eyes and thinking I’m being cheesy and cliche, well, maybe I am. But maybe we hear this message over and over again because we still don’t get it. There are so many things in my life that make me a multi-millionare, a hug from my husband when he comes home from work, a cup of tea with a friend, skype with my parents, holidays in the sun and the rain, a home to come home to, a childhood growing up in Africa under those crazy African storms and glorious sunshine, the best friends in the world, the best family in the world, the ability to see and smell and walk and dance. I hope that I always find wealth in these things.

Have a happy Wednesday er’body!
